A few hours in Newtown

I love Mondays! yes call me weird but I love them, I get to have a bit of breathing time. For those of you that don't know I'm a mother of 3 and if you have kids you know full well how ~~much~~ little time you get for yourself. So a few weeks back my littlest Pearce child started one day a week of childcare. I must confess I felt guilty putting her in but I've gotta say it's been the best thing for our family. If I get some free time it makes me feel like a nicer person and then the flow on effects are great for everyone else at home....

So today I met up with some of my lovely friends who happen to be awesome photographers too. We decided to have a little outing and this lead us to Newtown. If you live in or near Sydney you must make a stop at the Goulds bookshop on King St. This place is JAM packed from floor to ceiling with second hand books. If you are a book worm I'm sure you could get lost in there for hours if not days. But my main goal today was to take some photos. After the bookshop we moved on to a quick lunch then a walk to see some street art.

Last Friday was a great day for so many reasons. Our friends were over from the UK, the weather was so perfect for a winters day and John and Nic got married. I was so thrilled that they asked me to do the photography and how could I say no? they are so gorgeous! I want to also make mention as to how awesome these guys are, Nic was the most chilled out bride I've ever met and you just couldn't wipe the smile off her face, and speaking of smiles she seriously has the best one I've ever seen and I'm sure you would all agree! Lebanese Muslim Wedding

This is a super later blog post from May and Hassan's wedding a few months ago. I only realised a few days ago that I never did it, so my apologies to anyone that has been waiting for it.

I really do feel very blessed to have met such amazing people in our Muslim community. I've now done 3 Lebanese weddings and loved each of them. Hopefully I'll get to do more in the future :)

Last Sunday I met up with Zeinab and Hassan, they're getting married next month and I'm the lucky person who gets to photograph them! (I'm a little bit excited)
We met up at Bicentennial park and lucky it is a large park because I didn't realise how busy it would be on mothers day (derrr I know!) however we had all things on our side, the weather was perfect, the Autumn colours made me happy and the couple couldn't have been any nicer :)

I must confess to my recent slackness in blogging, I'm a bit behind but wanted to share last weekends work.

On Saturday I met with this lovely family, I've known Natasa for a few years now and we have been meaning to do a photo shoot for all this time. Finally the day came! we were greeted with such gorgeous weather and met up just as the sun was going down. The girls were so easy to photograph, such naturals in front of the camera.

An engagement party turned wedding!

Last Saturday was the surprise wedding of Allison and Jono. They had been planning their sneaky surprise since last year and I've been so excited about shooting since I heard about their plans.

The lucky couple managed to gather their friends and family at Eden Gardens here in North Ryde for their engagement party, little did they know that it was going to turn into a wedding! Now I must confess that I'm not a liar, I'm not good at it and never have been, so my main worry was that someone would ask me why I'm taking photos. Apparently a few people were asking the groom who the random was and why was she taking photos of their engagement party lol, I'm so glad no one asked me directly! Anyway it all worked out well. Alison made up a story and needed to "go check something" when she was actually changing into her wedding dress, at the same time Jono made the announcement to the guests about their surprise.

Linda and Uwe's wedding day

Wow what an eventful few weeks I've had. Busy is an understatement! not only have I been busy with all my lovely couples I've also had to deal with a sick family of 5 plus a Nanny. But on the upside we are all feeling much better and luckily I managed to time things so well that illness didn't set in until I got home from last weekends wedding (phew!)

So that was the reason behind the slow blog post, I had to get some more work out of the way so things didn't pile up on my "to do" list.

On to Linda and Uwe's wedding. What a great couple, they were so much fun to be with for the day and it all went well, we even got a quick shower of rain mid way through the ceremony but it didn't stop everyone from having a great time. Once the ceremony was over we were lucky enough to have the rain leave us for the remainder of the day.

The ceremony was at the botanical gardens followed by a 2 hour ferry ride around the harbour, we then got off at Watsons bay and the reception was held at Dunbar house. The whole day was just brilliant and I was so happy to spend it with some great people.

So here are some of the photos from the day. I really had a hard time only picking a few photos so there are more than normal.

Sunday afternoon I met up with Linda and Uwe, (pronounced ooova for those that don't know!) we had the date booked in for some time and when the day looked gloomy, I though oh no not another wet day! but as I pulled up at Clontarf the sun came out (a bit) and it turned out to be perfect weather! yay.

Linda and Uwe were perfect to photograph, they had so much fun as did I. Linda has such a great natural smile, Uwe kept making her laugh and this all made me happy. Nothing better than a couple in love just being themselves, so happy together I know they will have a long happy life as husband and wife. Their wedding is on state election day and I'm so looking forward to it (their wedding not the election)

Firstly Happy Valentines day to all love birds out there :) I hope you're all enjoying your day.

I'm so glad I get to share these photos today as I know this couple will get an extra special kick out of seeing them on such a special day. Katie and Lee will be tying the knot in April and I'm so looking forward to their day. Katie is so sweet and bubbly she has the best smile ever and the biggest dimples to go with it. Lee is a bit of a spunk too, great eyes and a smile to match Katie's. If these guys have kids they are going to be gorgeous!

So here are some photos from yesterday, we weren't greeted with the best weather which was a shame but I'm so glad we still did the photo shoot, I love what we got and hope that Katie and Lee like them too.

8 Months

Today I had the great please of meeting this lovely family at Bicentennial Park. Little Archie is 8 months old and totally adorable in every way. I've always loved my babies at this age, simply divine. Archie was no exception, upon meeting him I knew his curly eyelashes and big blue eyes would have me clucking at my monitor, and of course that did happen. Checking through his photos, ooohing and ahhhing. What an adorable boy and loved so much by his parents and grandparents.

Baby Alfie

It's been a while since I last took photos of a newborn, so last week I was rather excited to be photographing little Alfie, not only does he have the coolest name he also has the cutest set of lips I've ever seen on a baby! At only 2 weeks old he is already forming into a very handsome man. I got to have lots of cuddles and just love it when babies fall asleep in my arms, sigh.

Teen photography

Last weekend I got to hang out with a 14 year old and it was SO much fun. I haven't taken photos of a teenager for some time and I must admit I really love this age.

The reason for the photo shoot was to celebrate that Miss L has a lovely new set of braces, I think they look fabulous and totally suit her! wish they had cool colours when I was a kid, oh how times change!.

In celebration of my new found love of photographing teens, I'm going to run a promotion, I'll post more information very soon so watch this space!

A couple of weeks ago Marlaina and Buddy were married, it was a gorgeous sunny day so lucky considering all the wet weather we have been getting recently.

Wedding day! - Muslim Wedding Photographer

Wow it's already November where on earth has the year gone?! I can't believe that we're not far from 2011 and I'm planning for another busy year. At the moment things are so crazy that I've got a growing to do list and I like to be on top of things, this blog post should have been done a week ago so my apologies to anyone waiting to see the preview photos!

So here it is. My first ever Lebanese wedding and a Muslim one none the less. Everyone that knows me will know how excited I was to be doing the photography for this lovely couple and it lived up to all of my expectations and even more so. Hiam looked so so gorgeous I can't even begin to describe how honored I was and still am that they allowed me to be a part of their special day.

I normally shoot weddings on my own but for this wedding I asked Fiona Lumsdaine to join me and I'm so glad I did, she was just as excited as I was and I've go to say we made a great team! You can find Fe here go check out her work she is so great we had many giggles that day and a lot of "oooohh we are so lucky" comments! :) love you Fe!

Now I knew I was going to be in for a treat at Hiam and Ahmed's wedding, they did warn me there would be a lot of noise and I was prepared but seriously I was just saying wow ALL day, Fiona and I were just giddy with excitement. The music was fascinating and the noise was just incredible. I've never heard anything like it before and I hope that I get the opportunity to again one day. It was just brilliant!! I can't leave this blog without making comment on the men dancing, it was so awesome! there are a few photos at the bottom of the the post. I seriously had to contain myself from not dancing. I wish I could share a clip of the noise it was terrific!

All the best to you both Hiam and Ahmed. I wish you all the happiness in the world and will forever have a special place in my heart for you both. I find your culture fascinating and you are both such wonderful people I can only imagine you with both live a long happy prosperous life together. Also a big thank you to all your friends and family that made both Fiona and myself feel so welcome :)

Pre wedding goodness at Parramatta Park

I love my job! just had to say it. How lucky am I :)

Last weekend we had some pretty weird weather, just when we thought things were warming up to summer, bam! it got cold on us. On Saturday I had planned to do a pre wedding shoot with Marlaina and her man but luckily we changed it to Sunday and I'm glad we did, it got warm again!

We walked around Parramatta park and I was in awe that Marlaina wore heels! I'm just not a heel girl so I was impressed that it was no problem for her to walk through grassy fields and dirt tracks! I certainly got my exercise that day.

Strickland House

On the 10.10.10 I shot the wedding of Simon and Sunisa. The ceremony was at Strickland house overlooking the harbour. What a lovely location and what stunning views plus an unforgettable date!

In the morning it was wet, I was a bit worried that it was going to be a rainy wedding but as I made my way out to Bondi the sun came out and put on a show. It was such a nice day and clear to see that this couple were so in love, I was excited for them and honored to be capturing their special moments. Meeting with Sunisa and Simon for the first time on their wedding day was a breeze I felt like I had met them many times before :)

Mosman wedding

Here is the blog post of Kelly and Brad's wedding. It was one week ago today (happy 1 week anniversary guys!) and luckily the weather was much better than it is today, it's SO windy!

This lovely couple were married at The Gunners Barracks at Mosman, I had heard of this place and was so excited when they booked me, I just knew we would get some great photos not to mention how good these 2 look! Kelly looked drop dead gorgeous, a seriously beautiful bride inside and out, Brad looked pretty handsome too!

Last year (and this year) I took photos at my sons childcare centre and this is how I met Kelly. They have a gorgeous little girl and I've now had the privilege of taking her photo not only at childcare but now at her parents wedding. She looked so cute and once the day progressed she warmed up to a day filled with love, happiness and fun. As you will see in the following photos she discovered the joy of throwing rose petals, so very cute and I loved the expression on her face as she threw them in the air.

Blue Mountains E-shoot

Last week I met up with Ahmed and Hiam for their pre wedding shoot. They had a special request of going up to the Blue Mountains for their photos and I was more than happy to oblige, I've only ever made it as far as Springwood before and I love checking out new locations. So we went up to the Leura Cascades and it was stunning! so many beautiful spots for photographs.

I just want to add that Ahmed and Hiam's wedding will be my first Muslim wedding and I'm so excited about it, they are the sweetest couple and I was thrilled that they wanted to book me for their special day. Apparently I'm going to be in for a treat and it should be something to remember! yay :)

Special mention goes out to Ahmed's brother in-law Henry and Sister Fatima for helping me out on the day by carrying my things and holding my flash! I was prepared to slug it out with all my equipment and was ever so grateful that they tagged along for the shoot! thank you thank you thank you!

A special family portrait.

This is Lee, Brad and baby Sam, they live in Bathurst and I finally got to meet with them last week. They are just the sweetest couple that are so in love with their little man.

A few months ago I was asked if I could help out for a special cause, I agreed and Lee and Brad bid on (and won) my photography package. The cause was for The Sammut family appeal. Kylie Sammut and her husband Anthony have a very sick little boy called Aidan, he has a rare genetic condition called Pearsons Syndrome, sadly very few children with Pearsons Syndrome get to see their 5th birthday and there are less than 100 people world wide that have it. To add to the sadness in November Kylie's husband was in a car accident and was left with brain damage, I believe that Anthony is ok but will never be quite the same. When I heard this story I was more than happy to help out and offer my services to the appeal. If you are interested in reading more of their story click on the link here

Daddy's Girl

Last week I had the privilege of photographing this lovely family. This little miss gave me the biggest smile on entry to their home and then the smiles tried to hide. We didn't think we had gotten any but as it turns out we did get a few :) One thing I did learn quite quickly is that this little darling has a thing for her daddy. It was so touching to see the bond between the two of them and I know that she will be protected by her daddy forever.

Oh a side note wow these guys have the BEST window light, pure photographers dream. I want windows this big! Joe (the daddy) is a builder and he is currently doing some major renos which are looking brilliant. Best of luck with the rest of the project and it was so lovely to meet all 3 of you.

Mr and Mrs Palmer

Saturday a week ago Scott and I made our way up to the Hunter for Skye and Tony's wedding. It was lightly raining when we left and I was hoping that once we got there the clouds would part their way. It was my first trip to the Hunter so we needed to use the GPS and of course it had to take us up the back road eeek, it might be quicker but boy it's bendy! we finally made it up there in one piece but alas the weather didn't improve.

Skye didn't care about the rain, she was getting married! the day had finally arrived and she wasn't going to let anything get her down! she looked absolutely radiant and her smile said it all, I was so happy to be a part of their special day :)

I could go on and on about how lovely these guys are, but you know what? I'm going to skip right to the photos, after all I'm a photographer not a writer!

Stephen and Amy

Stephen and Amy's day finally arrived! it was just over a week ago and was everything I had imagined it would be. We started off on the Friday with their ceremony at a stunning church at Bexley followed by their reception venue just around the corner. Luckily the rain held off for the wedding so we got to play outside and get some photos at a marina.

The following morning my services were needed at central station for the second part of their wedding. Stephen is a little bit mad about trains, not mad as in angry but mad as in "I like trains (a lot) and want to ride on one for our wedding!" when Stephen and Amy told me of their plans I just knew I wanted to be part of it so I got my butt out of bed early and made my way to central. I would have join the happy couple for the full ride up the coast but I needed to get off to make my way to another wedding that day (more to blog soon!) so here we are a week since their wedding day and I've finally gotten their blog together with some preview pics, to say it was hard to pick the photos to share would be an understatement!

Last Saturday was the pre wedding shoot for Stephen and Amy. Stephen was the best man at one of my weddings last year and I was SO pleased that he booked me to shoot their wedding. I'm really looking forward to their big day which isn't too far away and I just know that we are going to have fun! Amy was SO great in front of the camera a real natural and made me smile :) these guys just make the sweetest couple.

Last Saturday I had a great E-session with Skye and Tony, we went to a gorgeous park and played with some gorgeous light and had a seriously fun day! They're getting married in 10 weeks! I can't wait for their wedding day, it's going to be absolutely stunning up in the Hunter Valley. It will be my first Vineyard wedding and I'm already getting visions for their big day.

Happy Mothers Day

I thought I would share a photo of myself with my family to mark mothers day. The photo was taken by my Mum and to be honest it is a true representation of us. I can't stand my smile it's all gummy and my daughter has a thing about messy hair. My son loves to pull faces whenever the camera is around and he is holding Princess Peach (Mario Bros) My husband isn't too keen on having his photo taken either, oh lets not forget to mention the baby isn't looking at the camera! but........ this IS us, we are not perfect and glamorous, we are 5 happy people leading rather normal lives and we love each other and are happy to be the way we are. So enjoy our gummy, face pulling messy haired photo. Not perfect but it is us.

Our best friends now have 3 children just like us. In fact we are all so clever that somehow we managed to both have girl boy girl. It is a running joke that they are copying us with having kids. However I don't think we will be having anymore so if they want 4 they are on their own.

A Wedding Blessing

Last week I had the privilege of photographing Miliss and Song's Wedding Blessing. They were married in Singapore over a year ago and decided to do it again over in in front of family. Song looked absolutely beautiful in her wedding dress.

After the ceremony we headed over to Blues Point Rd for some photos and then to the reception at The Italian Village. The views were amazing.

Anyone that books a portrait session in April will only pay $100 and still receive the 2 6x8 inch prints!!

I love Autumn colour and the leaves are starting to change. Call me to secure a booking, $50 deposit required to hold booking and the photo shoot doesn't have to be in April just the booking.

Little Miss 9 months

Today I met the most gorgeous 9 month old and her lovely parents. We headed out to their local park for some photos and me being me couldn't wait to start editing straight away. Here are just a few to start with.

Yes the baby is here and ALL is good

WOW I'm going to have to admit it. I forgot how time poor us mothers are with Newborn babies! I had it all planned in my mind how it would work out, baby would sleep well during the day (because she is my 3rd and I'd now be an expert, HA, not) and I'd get time to update my blog, site, etc. Oh and I had visions of all the cool newborn baby poses I'd get of her. Well the reality is that none of this really happened. My girl is happy and healthy and doing all that is expected of a newborn, it's just me being a moron and thinking that I can DO EVERYTHING. Oh well I did manage a few newborn photos but only about 5% of what I wanted to get but I'm actually OK with it and am enjoying the time I've had with her. One thing I do remember is that they do grow up quickly so it is important to take time with them while they are so young.

So I guess some of you (if anyone still checks this blog that is) might be wondering about the baby info.

Our girl was born on the 7th of December, I ended up being induced as were the other children. Labour was good and recovery was quick. We named her Minna Loren, after my Grandmother (old Swiss name) she was born with a heap of black hair which has now gotten a little bit lighter. She tested out her lungs for the first night and I thought we were in for a screamer but it turned out she isn't at all.

Minna weighed 3.82KG

Time for a baby to arrive

So things have been rather quiet on the old blog lately, well that is with good reason. For the last 2 months my husband and kids have had to listen to me whinge about how uncomfortable I am. Well I guess I'm just stating the truth. Pregnancy in your 30's feels very different to your 20's. Oh and now I'm told that "he" wants MORE kids! I think it would be wise to talk to me about that later down the track when I've forgotten about the 9 month process of making a baby!

Anyhow here are a couple of photos taken today, the baby's due date. Sadly for me there is no sign of anything happening. I'm booked to be induced on Monday and I'm guessing that is when I'll be able to see my toes again (let's hope!)

Wet wet wet

I must confess that I woke up on Saturday morning not happy. Why? Because it was pouring with rain and it was the final wedding for me this year (expecting our 3rd baby early December). I wanted the day to be all bright and happy and it was cold and wet. But you know what? It was ALL GOOD, I had a fantastic day with a fantastic couple and wow, what a great way to finish off the year for me.

I don't normally write long blog entries and this is mainly because I'm not great with words, I'm sure all my old English teachers would agree but enough of that, I now want to start sharing some more of my thoughts so bare with me people and be kind!

Jessica and Christian had a beautiful ceremony at St Vincents at Ashfield, wow what a beautiful church and a beautiful ceremony. There was something extra special about their ceremony and that was due to the fact that this was their Church and they have a special history with it.

When everything is all over and done with and it's time to go home, you know you have met the most wonderful people when you walk away feeling like you have known them all for a very long time.

Hi all, I wanted to let you know of some changes to Nicole Pearce Photography.

I've decided to no longer offer high resolution images to Portrait clients (this will be effective from today but not affect my previous clients including any sessions that are currently booked)

I understand that we live in a digital era and most people like to view their photos on digital media and not necessarily print photos. My solution is to offer standard resolution images to clients that book a portrait sessions, this will be a standard part of the service. This way you can share your photos with friends and family across the globe. They will be fine to view on your computer, TV and digital frame.

So why not offer high res? well I am a perfectionist when it comes to printing. I use a specialised lab in Melbourne that is only available to professional photographers, and their quality is outstanding. When I spend hours editing images the last thing I want is to have a photo printed that doesn't look anything like it did when I edited it. This is important for me and the client to get the best result possible. I've done the testing myself and am yet to find a mini lab that prints perfectly for 25 cents!

On to a totally different topic! we are expecting another child, due in early December. So far all is going really well and our 2 children are very excited about getting another sibling. This will mean that I'll be out of action for a while. I plan on taking leave from November '09' to February '10' for portrait clients and will need a bit longer for weddings. At this stage I will be taking wedding bookings from July 2010 onwards.

Last Saturday was the winter wedding I had been looking forward to for the last few months. The weather was good to us and nowhere near as cold as we had expected. The Bride looked amazing and is one of the most photogenic people I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. Oh I should also mention how good the groom looked, I can't have him thinking he didn't perform well because he did a great job!. Also have to mention how funny all the speeches were!

Here are some of my closest friends who recently moved away :( I met Simone almost 3 years ago at a local playgroup, our kids happened to be around the same age and we all got along SO well. Simone and her family are from Germany and currently in Australia for Stefan's work. Lucky for me their Sydney stay lasted for more than 2 years. But last month they moved to Adelaide :( on our last day together I finally got to take a few photos of them.

Simone, Stefan and kids I miss you very much and will never forget our close friendship.

Last weeks wedding was a wet one but luckily it all paned out perfectly. We even managed to get some great stormy photos on the cliffs of Clovelly. The whole bridal party were so great to work with, it's weddings like these (even with the rain) that make my job so enjoyable.

Not Your Normal Wedding

Last week I had great pleasure in attending a wedding not only as a photographer but also as a friend. I love my job especially when I meet such great people and get to make new friends. Lucky me :) Why was this not your normal wedding? because there were only 8 people attending including bride and groom, their vows were poetery and after the ceremony they had butterflies which they all got to release. It was a nice finishing touch to a beautiful wedding.

When I first met this wonderful couple they had expected their wedding day to be hot, well it didn't let them down it was over 40 deg! luckily things cooled down as the night progressed.

I love this last image, the newly married couple are listening to their children sing, they must have thought I was nuts, I keep going on and on and on about how good they are but they ARE, I can't help telling the truth. Oh and on a side note for all camera nerds this image wouldn't have been possible without my 85mm 1.4 and D3 set at 6400 iso, the camera did me proud.

A little rain (well a lot actually) wasn't going to stop this wedding. Sue-ann and Heath had everything organised for their wedding more than a year before their big day! Last Saturdays wedding was so much fun. Even the ceremony brought me to tears and that's something I don't normally do, but hearing the bride cry while reading her vows was too much, it was simply beautiful. What a great couple! A christening

A couple of weeks ago I had the great pleasure of taking photos at a christening. This little guy has been in front of my camera before and just like the 1st time he was a complete angel. He even slept through most of the service and then woke up in the perfect mood for the actual christening. Totally didn't phase him at all. What a great little guy.

Website makeover

It must be the change of weather or something but I've had a play with the website and given it a freshen up. All clients shouldn't have any issues with logging in but if you do let me know.

I currently have a couple of free weekends until mid September, if you want to make a booking give me a call. October kicks off with the wedding season and that's when things will get busy so if you want some family photos or have a newborn get in now!

In the mean time here are a few of my recent favourite (personal) photos.

My girl, she is happy to pose for the camera every now and then.

And my little man who is growing up way too quickly. He doesn't normally sit still for a photo so this is special to me.
